Trulli

Trulli are an ancient building typical of central-southern Puglia; they were generally built as temporary countryside shelters. By removing the stone placed at the centre of the conical ceiling, poor peasants were able to quickly destroy the building before the royal regulators arrived, meaning they could avoid paying dues to the crown!
